Jump straight to the Absolute Superman #21 breakdown at 18:06 In Absolute Superman #20 and #21, writer Jason Aaron and artist Rafa Sandoval deliver two and a half issues of nonstop escalation. Issue 20 opens with Carter Hall meeting Talia al Ghul in the desert, then picks up the four-way standoff between Absolute Superman, Absolute Steel, Hawkman, and King Shazam. Hawkman reveals the second half of Teth-Adam's origin — the slave boy of the Black Land whose wish was granted not by wizards, but by Brainiacs wielding a Father Box — plus a glimpse at an ancient Justice League that appears to include Arion, a Trigon-possessed Raven, and possibly Vandal Savage or IBAC. Shazam dismantles all three heroes, Parasite makes an unlikely heroic turn, and issue 20 ends with Superman in full battle gear wielding Hawkman's Nth metal mace and Steel's promethium hammer on the lunar surface. Issue 21 is the finale, and it does not go how the cover suggests. Superman gives Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen his last wishes — a list of quiet, ordinary people he checks on around the world — before the fight of his life. King Shazam reveals his own battle suit, takes the mace, and beats Superman across the moon. Jimmy Olsen settles things with Talia al Ghul, Lois returns to Smallville, and Hawkman does what Superman never would. Why this issue matters: - Absolute Superman #21 is the finale of the Reign of the Superman arc. - King Shazam is established as more powerful than Absolute Superman — Superman does not win this fight. - The final page reveals an entire planet of Absolute Doomsdays, marking the arrival of Doomsday in the Absolute Universe. - Teth-Adam's full origin is revealed, including the Father Box and the Brainiacs who posed as the wizards of the Red Land. - The next Absolute Superman arc will resolve Absolute Brainiac and address what Absolute Lex Luthor has become. #AbsoluteSuperman #KingShazam #DCComics —————————————————— 📺 Previously: Absolute Harley Quinn's origin just rewrote her bond with the Joker — [link] 📺 Watch the full Absolute Superman playlist: [playlist link] 📺 Watch the full Absolute Universe playlist: [playlist link] —————————————————— FOLLOW VARIANT TikTok: http://www.tiktok.com/@variantcomics Twitter: https://twitter.com/variantcomics Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Variant_official/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/variantcomics/ Absolute Superman #20-21 (Reign of the Superman) Writer: Jason Aaron Artist: Rafa Sandoval Publisher: DC Comics
