Friday the 13th: The Game is an upcoming survival horror video game developed by Gun Media and Illfonic, and published by Gun Media. It is based on the franchise of the same name owned by New Line Cinema. It is scheduled for release on October 2016[3] for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game is an asymmetrical 1v7 multiplayer game, of which one portrays Jason Voorhees. The objective is for the counselors to survive the night by running from Jason, whom can be defeated by teamwork and planning. The game ends when all the players are killed by Jason, of which a Friday the 13th-themed trailer will play,[4] showcasing highlights of the game. It is a semi-open world game, with players able to explore it further.[5] The game was originally to be developed as Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp, in which the story itself was different than so, by Illfonic in mid-2015. Gun Media was in talks with Friday director Sean S. Cunningham to obtain a license to develop the game, and after a series of meetings, successfully acquired the rights. The game evolved into Friday the 13th: The Game, and funding from both Kickstarter and BackerKit raised approximately $1.1M, becoming the 106th most successful crowdfunded project of all time. It is also the first Illfonic game to utilize Unreal Engine 4 after their departure from CryEngine following Project Advena
