Here is Little Shop of Horrors, filmed at Theatre Apple (シアターアプル) in Tokyo for The T.B.S. (Tokyo Broadcasting System) network during its October 1 - October 28, 1987 run at the theater. Despite what is listed on various trading sites, this is NOT the original Off-Broadway production. This was a production that toured in Japan in 1986-1987. Though inspired by the Off-Broadway production, it wasn't based on it, and it features different sets, costumes, and new staging and choreography by director Victor Valentine. (Though I have heard claims that original Audrey II puppets were used, I have been unable to verify it.) According to Vinnie Rattolle's now-defunct blog, "There was a short-lived fade in Japan of filming American / English musicals and airing them on television." Though this was filmed for that purpose, I have been unable to find out when, or if, it aired. The cast includes Bert Hilkes as Seymour, Marsha Skaggs / Marsha Waterbury as Audrey, David Kaiserman as Mushnik, David Jordan as Orin (and others), Natalie Oliver as Ronette, Angel Jemmott as Crystal, Sharon Lorraine-Young as Chiffon, and Tyrone Aiken as the voice of Audrey II, with puppeteering by Jonas Cole. For the purposes of this upload, the video has been upscaled to 720p and deinterlaced for a framerate of 59.94 fps.
