Blue Origin has defeated Rocket Lab in the competition for NASA’s new Mars Telecommunications Orbiter, securing a contract worth up to $700 million. Based on Blue Ring, the spacecraft could become a critical communications link between Earth and future missions exploring the Red Planet. Meanwhile, SpaceX discovered an oxidizer leak aboard the Crew-13 Dragon spacecraft, delaying its launch until later in September. NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope successfully launched aboard Falcon Heavy, and new findings show that Orion’s heat shield performed dramatically better during Artemis II than it did on Artemis I.
