Some basic concepts of chemistry | Class 11 | Chemistry | Khan Academy

Chemistry is the study of matter and the changes it can undergo. In this first unit of class 11 chemistry, we learn the significance of scientific notation, rules to calculate significant figures, the laws governing the combination of different atoms, mole concept, stoichiometry that involves the study of amount of substances that are involved in reactions, and modes of expressing the concentration of the solution.

As shown in this video, we can obtain a substance's molar mass by summing the molar masses of its component atoms. We can then use the calculated molar mass to convert between mass and number of moles of the substance. Sections: 00:00 - Finding moles from mass 00:16 - Understanding the mole concept 00:49 - Determining molar mass from the periodic table 01:37 - Molar mass of glucose calculation 03:37 - Converting kilograms to grams 04:22 - Applying molar mass to find moles 05:16 - Final result: moles of glucose ------------------ Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.
